In this half-day workshop, Bessie will guide us through a process of self-discovery.This guided, transformational, group process will include the creation of art, poetry, narrative writing and reflective dialogue. The evolution of what is discovered in reflecting upon your personal experiences will demonstrate a progression to acceptance and celebration. Through the use of directed prompts, we will gain valuable skills to continue the discovery of what we left behind on the altar of everyone else’s need. With each new “re-membering,” we become more and more the person who God intended us to be.
Blending healing arts drawn from many traditions, Bessie Senette, is an author, healer, public speaker, and ordained interfaith minister. She lives in Lafayette with her husband of 35 years. She has two sons, two daughters-in-law, four grand-pups and one cantankerous grand-cat. The delight of her heart is being a supplemental grandmother to the precious four-year-old and nine-month-old humans, Eden and Noah.
Lafayette resident and Louisiana native, Bessie Adams Senette has published her first book, “Cutting the Clouds, a Bayou Mystic’s Poems, Musings, and Imaginings.” It is an autobiographical collection of poems and essays about the life and culture of her bayou upbringing and the spirituality that informs her traditional healing gifts. Many local artists and photographers contributed original works to this stunning, full-color, coffee table book. More than just a keepsake though, this book invites all its readers to look more deeply at their own experiences and value them as perfect spiritual teachings. Senette says, “ This is not a book about healing, this is a healing book.”
